At the end of March, I wrote this post about the National Emergency Library and sites lending/giving pirated books. Personal part: this site is the reason I left a group of readers that I really loved being a part of, because one of the members not only shared the link to that site, but also gave me a whole load of poop in defence of it. Today’s fantastic news simply prove me right in my stance.
Which news? That the NEL is shutting down its site. Sued by publishers left and right, likely unable to pay the dues they would’ve had to give the publishers and authors, they finally shut down. I am only putting the first tween of The Authors Guild’s thread, but the whole eight of them deserve the read.
Needless to say that this site shutting down is a massive victory for all the authors, and we can only rejoice about the news.
